Understanding BioCCS

A regional strength

Agriculture, forests, local areas: France has a substantial biomass resource.

A developed infrastructure

Biogas plants, incinerators and bioeconomy industries already use this biomass, releasing biogenic CO2. BioCCS consists of capturing and storing this CO2 so as to remove it from the atmosphere for the long term.

An efficient process

This CO2 is particularly well suited to capture, with concentrations that can reach more than 95%, depending on the process.

A proven technology

BioCCS technology is established and operational. It is a matter of engineering, not R&D.
